Hey guys! ResCreNoFicWriter here. I'll try my hand at helping y'all work on Creative Nonfiction, especially the kind about yourself.

Agh, same thing happened to me as Preethi >.< ANYWAYS
So Creative Nonfiction is basically that: stuff you didn't make up told prettily. The most fun kind (I think) is writing about yourself (autobiography, memoir, etc.) The fun part is that you're given a bit of leeway to exercise your creative license. Just be truthful on the amount of truth (or Oprah'll get mad).
Important Item #1: Setting! (see Preethi's thread) Setting is always important. I believe that in the telling of your life, setting gives a backstory, tells us about your surroundings and life. Make sure to include not only the background places, but the people as well. Throwing around minor characters and introducing us to people who you invited to your 9th birthday and haven't seen since gives us a sense about you and your world.
Next, dialogue! Über important here. How many times have you told a story about an experience you had with a friend without quoting any dialogue? I know y'all aren't mimes, so dialogue needs to happen to move the plot along and develop character relationships.
I'm tired. Talk to y'all later.
